About

In the fall of 2010, a teaching job fell into my lap. Literally. Warren Woods Christian School was in need of a Spanish teacher and I was looking for something—anything—that would utilize my Spanish skills. Though teaching was not even on my radar as a possible career, I accepted the position for “resume building purposes.” Suddenly, what I had anticipated to be “just another job,” became a passion. Investing in my students, encouraging them to love learning, to love languages and cultures, and guiding them through confusing Spanish grammar, became one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences of my life. Never could I have imagined that the most abundant blessing, excitement, challenge, and adventure could come from being a Spanish teacher!

Throughout my pre-service career, I have taught students one-on-one, both nationally and internationally, as a private Spanish and ESL instructor. I have spent the better part of 15 years studying Spanish and learning her various facets. I have lived abroad. I have traveled extensively throughout Latin America. And I have spent my undergraduate and graduate years refining my skills as a Spanish speaker, broadening my techniques as an educator and deepening my love for and knowledge of Latin America and her culture.

In the future, I hope to continue my learning, growing and exploring both in the classroom and (hopefully!) in more distant and exotic locations! I have a sincere love of and passion for new cultures, new people and new languages. I would be delighted if my educational career took me to new places where I could indulge in both work and play!

Spanish and educating aside, other passions of mine include Crossfit, new cultural experiences, DIY projects, traveling, home renovations, and volunteering. Drinking coffee, however, is my favorite hobby and it keeps going with my busy schedule.
