Evidence of my Classroom Management:
The ability to manage a classroom is an art that not only provides the necessary parameters within which students can learn the attitudes, routines, and work ethic necessary for academic success but also cultivates an environment that allows students to safely grow, explore and develop as learners without fear of failure or humiliation. My entire teaching philosophy is centered on my commitment to providing for students an environment in which my classroom management skills allow students to achieve not only academically but also linguistically, socially, and emotionally. Effective Urban Educators provide effective classroom management in order to meet the learning and emotional needs of diverse student populations.
Artifact
Description
During student teaching, I was able to implement effective classroom management skills and techniques that allowed each of my students to safely grow, explore and develop as learners without fear of failure or humiliation. A thorough description of the management plan, strategies used within the classroom, results of my decisions and strategies, and reflection on those results are included within the Classroom Management Plan. I used the College of Education Classroom Management Plan Framework to evaluate my management techniques in order to produce a learning environment conducive for student achievement and second language acquisition. To assist my efforts, I used various classroom management strategies and real world examples that provided my students with logical rational as to why certain behaviors, attitudes or responses were not acceptable and would not help them achieve success in my classroom or where it really mattered--in the real world!
Reflection
Implementing my Classroom Management Plan gave me experience in providing for my students an environment that allows for students to achieve academically and grow socially and emotionally. Such an environment also allows my students to maximum student achievement. This experience felt very similar to when I taught private lessons, and estabilished my own academic and behavioral expectations for each of my students. In my future practice, I will use COE Classroom Management Plan Framework to analyze, evaluate, and be more observant of my students in order to become a more effective teacher through such reflection of my classroom management skills and techniques.
