Artifact
Description
During student teaching, I tracked the behaviors of a student who struggled with severe test anxiety. This provides evidence that I have demonstrated successful application of InTASC Standard 2. A thorough description of the student, curricular decisions and strategies used with the student, results of these decisions and strategies, and reflection on these results are included within the Case Study. I used the College of Education Case Study Framework to track the student's social and learning differences within the classroom. By making comprehensive and analytic observations, this student who was having difficulty controlling her anxiety, was able to make the necessary adjustments in order to positively affect her class performance. To assist her learning, I used multiple classroom management strategies, a variety of studying tools and methods as well as many test taking strategies in order to help curb the amount of anxiety she felt while in Spanish class.
Reflection
Conducting the Case Study gave me experience in assessing individual students to help them become more successful in the classroom. This experience felt very similar to when I taught private lessons, but in this case, the strategies that I utilized will most likely help more than just the individual, private lessons. In my future practice, I will use COE Case Study Framework to analyze, evaluate, and be more observant of my students in order to become a more effective teacher through such reflection.
